Yolanda's Free Things for Me!

I am only starting on this blogs thing.  But I have found the best blog online.  It's freethingsforme.blogspot.com.  It has been a blessing for me and my family this last couple of weeks.  We were able to get lots of Christmas presents and stocking stuffers for cheap or even FREE! Like the Pictureka game or the Hungry Hippos travel game.  I am learning how to use coupons with her posts and believe it or not; I've saved about 50% on my groceries and diapers this month. I can't believe that there are some deals at places like Walgreens which help you make money instead of pay money.   It's a real blessing... specially for us being two international students with a new baby.  Thank you Yolanda for the awesome blog you have created for all of us..

Face Painting

It's loved by kids and adults!! There are reasons to believe that humanity has painted faces and bodies since the beginning to demonstrate different things.  For hunting, religious reasons and military reasons such as camouflage.  Now we do it for fun! Although it died out in Western culture after the fall of the French aristocracy, face painting re-entered the popular culture during the hippie movement of the late 1960s, when it was common for young women to decorate their cheeks with flowers or peace symbols at anti-war demonstrations.  Now it is common to see this kind of entertainment in fairs, sport games, open air markets, parks, or any location that attracts children or teenagers.   Although I know some adults that love it too... like me!!

There are many kinds of face paint, including:

• Designs that include the emblems of favorite sports teams, cartoon characters, and other designs that are "cute" or otherwise appealing to the young.
• Dramatic designs that appeal to all ages.
• Costuming designs which transform the wearer into someone/something completely different, such as Jack Haley's silver face makeup as the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz.
• Designs that endeavor to color the face in such a way to indicate solidarity with a cause, usually the outcome of a sporting contest or membership in a group.
